Riesling vom blauen Schiefer
€29,82
At Clemens Busch, blue slate is found only in Fahrlay, the plot next to the ferry landing within the Marienburg – this is the second wine from that site. Blue slate is much harder than grey or red: the vines struggle at first, until their roots find their way through the cracks and dig deep for water and nutrients. Hand-picked at the end of October, very gently pressed and spontaneously fermented in old Fuder casks. Fermentation often runs until summer; the wine is bottled after ten to eleven months in cask.
Cool and clear as a mountain stream, with lime, wet stone, lovely purity and a saline, mineral finish. Drink from 2026 to 2036. Vinous: 93 points.
Appellation: Mosel – VDP.Ortswein
