Riesling vom roten Schiefer
€21,58
Red slate is a rarity on the Mosel. The grapes come from two sites: Rothenpfad, a very steep, south-east-facing slope within the Marienburg with light, weathered red clay slate, and Nonnengarten, west of the Marienburg, where the red slate is more marbled and heavier. The two complement each other perfectly and have been the base of this wine since the 2003 vintage. Hand-picked in mid-October, gently pressed and spontaneously fermented in old Fuder casks, with long ageing on the lees.
Juicy red apple and the texture of crunchy apple flesh, with exactitude, clarity and plenty of verve – as Antonio Galloni (Vinous) describes this vintage. Open already, drink until 2032.
Appellation: Mosel – VDP.Ortswein
